Hola

I'M FIA.

HOLA, I AM FIA!

I LOVE movement. Inside AND Outside.

That's why I have dedicated my life to movement.

I want to create a place where people love to move and come together to get to know themselves better. A place to reconnect with yourself - with your body, mind AND soul.

I have spent most of my young adult life traveling and studying.
Traveling to magical, remote places from the Amazon to the Himalayas, learning about culture through language, and diving into the works of some of the greatest philosophers of all time.
But also and especially embarking on journeys and quests into the depths of my own being.

I meditated in the Himalayas, did ritualistic shadow work in the Amazon, died in life-changing ceremonies in the desert and practiced yoga in some of the most beautiful places on this precious Earth.

For several years, I didn't know how to share my knowledge, wisdom and personal qualities with others, and I was caught between knowing it all and not knowing at all.

After starting almost every possible course at university and also getting a degree in Political Science, I finally found a subject that really interested me wholeheartedly - "Languages and Cultures of South Asia and Tibet", which I eventually graduaded in Sanskrit, Nepali, Tibetan and Sub-Indian Philosophy.

When I realized that the diplomatic profession could not offer me a satisfying future, I started working as a language trainer - a profession that over the years gave me valuable teaching skills and touched my heart on many levels, but never really satisfied my spiritual being.

HOW DID I GET THERE?

Although I was very talented in many things, especially in learning new languages, I honestly struggled with my path. I was torn between my intellect and my heart.

That was until I finally found my way into the Mexican desert, which changed my life forever.

Living in the breathtaking Austrian Alps stems from my experiences with the Seri Tribe.

I am a child of the desert - daughter of the sun. All I see is in the light. All I build is built on sand. I will build as if the sand were stone.

IS MEDICINE.

MOVEMENT MEANS THE WORLD TO ME

I am a full-time yoga and movement teacher since many years having completed many hundred hours of Yoga Teacher Trainings including Ashtanga, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Yin Yoga, Aerial Yoga, elements of Synergy Yoga and Budokon Yoga.

However, I am inspired from various movement cultures and teach Yoga & Movement from a holistic approach.

Movement of body and mind literally saved my life and to me is a sacred precious practice. And I am here to take you on the journey to the center of your being - through Movement.

In my twenties, almost 20 years ago, I started to fall in love not only with Yoga but also with martial arts - especially with the Brazilian art of Capoeira.

A rhythmic Brazilian fight with lots of movement, kicks, acrobatics and plenty of mobility.

Capoeira is an expression of freedom and in this sense each capoeirista is given a name that expresses his/her personal character.

Mine is Fia Sonora  - "The daughter of the desert".

MARTIAL
ARTS

I've been a capoeirista for half of my life and to be honest, I thought there was no better way to move in a way that made you strong, flexible and very agile at the same time - that was until I discovered Jiu Jitsu through Budokon Yoga.

Due to my background and daily lifestyle, I have thus gained an even deeper connection between strength, body control and conscious breathing in coherence with the right movement in my yoga and martial arts-centred training.

Yoga and Martial Arts are both ways of experiencing and expressing inner and outer worlds through movement.

One goes more inward, the other more outward.

Both are important because the inner is reflected in the outer.

That's why I combine the experiences and insights from both systems in my Hol(Y)stic Yoga Movement sessions to a holistic way of living.

My Hol(Y)stic Yoga Movement Sessions therefore also support you in improving your martial arts performance – we focus on optimising general coordination, on-point timing, functional movement for martial arts and a balanced lifestyle.

My classes are challenging, fun and grounding.

IS A WAY OF LIFE.

HOL(Y)STIC YOGA MOVEMENT

My Hol(Y)stic Yoga Movement is a holistic approach that combines yoga, breath, diverse movement arts and philosophy into a conscious path of embodiment and presence.

Hol(Y)stic Yoga Movement understands movement as embodiment: not ‘I had this experience,’ but ‘I am this experience.’

Every practice becomes the language of the soul of the body. In this language, we practise presence – conscious being in the moment, where tension and release, energy and gentleness come into balance.

My teaching draws on a wide variety of movement influences: Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Budokon, Iyengar, Kundalini, Yin, Restorative, as well as other forms of movement such as Capoeira and Jiu Jitsu.

Hol(Y)stic Yoga Movement responds to the needs of individual participants in such a way that practice is not only physically experiential, but also internally transformative.

My holistic approach is supported by my University studies in Indology and Buddhism, with a focus on yoga, mantra, breath, Sanskrit, Tibetan and South Asian philosophy.

As both a scholar and a practitioner I stay researcher and practitioner at the same time and try to help generate a profoundly transformative yoga and movement practice.

Yoga and movement have accompanied me for almost 20 years. I completed my initial training while living in Nepal back in the days – and to this day I try to remain a student with a beginner's mind, who sees learning and teaching as inseparable. I dedicated myself to an ever-changing and never-ending path.

My aim is to help you to open up spaces where you can develop your individual expressiveness, refine your perception and develop a deep presence through proprioception – on the mat, in everyday life and far beyond.

Movement is the expansion of consciousness and I am here to help you broaden the scope and expand your awareness.
